15 minutes from our cabins, within the Boqueixón town hall, is the Pico Sacro. It is one of the best known mountains in Galicia due to the number of stories and legends it possesses.
Its pointed silhouette acts as a natural lighthouse for residents and visitors to the region. And the reflection of the sun in the quartz from which it is formed causes a different aspect depending on the point from which it is looked at.
There are many pilgrims who are encouraged to climb it since on the Ruta de la Plata it marks the last stage, being the first place from where they can see the towers of the Cathedral.
The caves of Pico Sacro
These caves called “Buratos dos Mouros” run through the interior of Pico Sacro. Some say they were built by the Romans to search for gold. Others say that they connected with another cave located about 5 km where the monastery of San Xoan da Cova was located near Ponte Ulla.
If you stay in our cabins it is an essential visit, especially if you fall in love with sunsets.
